George and Elizabeth STANILAND of Wyville Lodge (2)

I've written previously about George and Elizabeth Staniland (http://thehistoryofmatt.blogspot.com/2008/07/staniland-family-of-wyville-lodge.html). Thankfully from time to time this blog leads me to a fellow descendant, in this case Audrey WALKER, descended from the DUFFIN/DUFFEN line. The most useful things I've posted on this blog are thanks to the kindness of others. Along with the useful information Audrey has shared with me, Audrey actually made the trek from her home village to Harlaxton a mile north of Wyville where the Staniland's lived. There, Audrey photographed the parish church, and found the headstones of George and Elizabeth STANILAND. The epitaphs are very touching - Audrey has done a great deal of work on the DUFFIN family, and Elizabeth's was a particularly poor family. How she came to have 'THE FAIREST BODY TO THE PUREST MIND' is not known, nor is it known how George came to have so much money (for a farmer). The headstones are beautifully crafted and they are buried in the 'better' section of the churchyard. I have a feeling that George inherited money - no luck so far with
searching for a will for his father.

I have lately been told that Central Coast Council are intending to turning over the caravan / camping parks management by putting it out to tender ?, this is a sad situation for the many users over the years, especially if rescrictions other than what is there now are changed.

We wait to see.
